Jay and Holly became Christians and met while attending the Ohio State University. Jay went to Ohio from Portland, OR, and Holly from Indiana. While at OSU, Jay and Holly competed as varsity athletes (Go Bucks!) and became members of Northwest Presbyterian Church, where they married in 1996.
Jay graduated with a BA in English and an MA in English Education. He has taught English in high schools both in El Salvador and the USA and has coached volleyball for boys and girls. Holly earned a BA in International Studies. After graduation, Holly did a year of post-graduate study in Potsdam, Germany and worked as a teacher and computer consultant.
They have served with MTW since 1999 and arrived
in Berlin in 2001, currently leading the Treptow-Koepenick Team. They have three
children: Alec, Eliana, and Lars.
