Martin Bucer was a reformer from Straßbourg who lived from 1491-1551. He taught for one year in Bonn (1542) and his teaching laid the foundation for reformation in the state of Cologne. The Archbishop Cranmer was so impressed by his teachings that he used them in the Reformation of England.
Martin Bucer was the only Reformer of the 16th century who had a great impact on all four branches of the Protestant Church: Lutheran, Reformed, Anglican, and Baptist. His theology is a combination of Reformed, Anglican, and Pietistic elements coming from French, German, and English cultures.
The Martin Bucer Seminary, like its name giver, is committed to reformed
theology. It is also committed to holding together the splintering factions
of the German church. We hope to bring to together students of varying theologies,
backgrounds, and nationalities in order that the future leaders of the German
church will work together to expand God’s kingdom.
